Nonholonomic systems are those systems with restrictions that are not integrable. This class of systems has an important application in mechanical systems, robotic manipulation and various areas of science and engineering. Much researchers has explored important open problems in this context with partial responses, and has shown some strategies from the approaches of geometric control, Lie theory, and differential geometry. In this mini-course, we present the main tools and techniques of this research area, and give some applications in the areas of science and engineering.
